Pro-tip: Look out for ingredient paraffin in facial oils...
]]>Two of the most popular categories of facial skincare are face oils and face serums. While they may seem interchangeable, there are actually some key differences between the two:
Firstly, face oils are, as the name suggests, oils. They're usually made from natural ingredients like plant-based oils and concentrated extracts, and are designed to hydrate and nourish the skin. This is of course the most well-accepted form of moisture by skin itself, offering deep penetration.
On the other hand, face serums can be either water-based or oil-based formulas. Similar to face oils, they may also contain concentrated plants extracts and actives, designed to hydrate and nourish the skin, however, they are considered more on the lines of chemical-based (not necessarily harsh chemical) formulations.
Pro-tip: Look out for ingredient paraffin in facial oils, sometimes used to make oils feel lighter in weight, however, are not generally considered beneficial for skin.
Face serums tend to feel lightweight, and are formulated to be fast-absorbing liquids.
Depending on your face oil of choice, a deeply moisturising carrier oil (such as almond / coconut / rosehip / jojoba) or one which is complexly formulated to also have benefits of herbs, the oil can offer a variety of benefits.
Both, serums and oils can be formulated to offer benefits ranging from brightening, firming, anti-inflammation, balancing oily skin (yes, you read that correctly), balancing dry skin, radiance-boosting, break-out-control, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and so on.
Oils can be the 1-step skincare routine you've been looking for. Easy to use just by themselves after cleansing and patting dry or as part of a longer routine. Seasonal adjustments may include using the oil only at night in summer / monsoon.
Serums often have a thinner consistency than oils, which makes them great for layering under other products like moisturizers or sunscreen.
Ideally, the routine would be cleanser > toner > serum > moisturiser > sunscreen.
Of course, you don't have to choose between face oil and face serum – you can use both! In fact, layering the two can be a great way to give your skin an extra boost of hydration and nutrients. Just be sure to apply your products in the right order – generally, you'll want to apply your serum first, wait a few minutes for it to absorb, and then follow up with your face oil.
In summary, face oils and face serums are two different types of products with a whole host of benefits. You can always use both for an extra boost of hydration and nutrients, choosing the best ones for you depending on your skin type and concerns.
Look for products that are free from common irritants like parabens, mineral oils or harsh alcohol, and always patch test new products before adding them to your routine.

Let’s get cooking! Put all the ingredients together and blend it all up. When you will open the lid, you’ll be surprised with the thick, creamy paste and the fine aroma of the paste hitting your senses. So good!
]]>With Summer being right around the corner, there is no better time than now to indulge in some self-care. Hair damage seems to be one of the common problems amongst many women and coming to your rescue, we’re sharing our must-have Banana Coconut Hair Mask to deeply condition, hydrate and nourish.
Let’s get cooking!
Our main ingredient, Banana, is packed with many important nutrients that helps improve your hair for an extra soft and shiny look. Banana also has Silica, which is known to boost collagen production; anti-microbial properties that can help in restoring dry and flaky scalp and Vitamin C, Vitamin B6. It is also known to be beneficial in reducing dandruff. For quantity, you can add half to one banana, depending on the length of your hair.
[You can munch on one with your nut butter of choice, as you prep your mask. Healthy snack alert!]
An ingredient that needs no introduction. Coconut contains powerful antioxidants, vitamins B, C & E and a high protein profile that supports the protein your hair is made up of, keeping it stronger. You can use a couple of tablespoons if you have longer hair. A tablespoon should be sufficient for shorter hair. The healthy fats in coconut not only have amazing health benefits for your hair but also for your body too. So again, don’t forget to pop a couple of pieces as you grate them up.
Consider this as a gift from nature for your body, mind and soul. Honey has both emollient and humectant properties, making it a great hair moisturizer. Emollients smooth the hair follicles, adding shine to dull hair. Humectants bond with water molecules, adding moisture to dry strands. By moisturizing and locking in shine, honey can help restore the natural lustre of your hair. Add in not more than a couple of tablespoons, depending on the length of your hair.
Yes, Methi seeds work wonders for your hair and gut! Also called fenugreek seeds have high protein and nicotinic acid content, which are known to be beneficial against hair fall, dandruff and in treating a variety of scalp issues like dryness of hair and hair thinning. Add only a tablespoon and make sure the seeds are soaked overnight in some water, to balance it all.
Put all the ingredients together and blend it all up. When you will open the lid, you’ll be surprised with the thick, creamy paste and the fine aroma of the paste hitting your senses. So good!
Apply the paste on your oiled hair, let it sit for about 30-40 minutes and then wash it off. Use Ahé Naturals Hibiscus, Bhringraj & Shikakai Shampoo followed by the Wild Banana & Coconut Milk Conditioner. Its non-greasy quality makes it an excellent moisturizer for the hair. It softens dry brittle hair and helps repair split damaged ends as well. The conditioner has a floral fragrance, is gentle on your hair and has a deeply nourishing formula that helps in repairing dry and damaged hair.
Finally, with just these four ingredients you can have a homemade hair mask and combine it up with our best-selling products, for smooth, soothed and hydrated hair, leaving it looking and feeling its best.
We've all been there, researching Ayurvedic hair care that promises thick, lustrous hair growth, wanting to incorporate our ancestral recipes into our routine, waiting days and weeks to see the results. What if we told you that avoiding these 4 easy but common mistakes can help bring you closer to your hair nourishing goals:
Always brush through hair and thoroughly detangle before applying oil.
Drop oil directly onto the scalp and use 2-3 fingers to massage those drops in each time. Repeat this across the scalp, spreading the oil evenly.
Make sure not to apply excess oil where it starts dripping. Apply lighter amounts onto the mid sections of your hair all the way till the ends.
A gentle 5-10 minute scalp massage truly goes a long way in helping proper absorption and increasing circulation. After your head massage, tie your hair in a loose braid and leave the oil in for at least 1 hour pre-shower / overnight as a deep treatment.
*It’s generally preferable to avoid brushing hair after oiling.
Try to shampoo only once. Over cleansing to remove oil can dry out hair. Instead, use a deep cleansing shampoo and use it once. Apply minimal amount of shampoo on the ends. Rinse and condition as per your normal routine.
Look out for ingredients like bhringraj, black seed, rosemary, curry leaf, hibiscus, castor oil, fenugreek, amla.
